Nothing like parking issues to get local residents hot under the collar.

Local Green Party supremo Craig Simmons wrote (Oxford Mail ViewPoints, March 19) that the anti-CPZ movement was driven by Labour Party lackeys. So I thought I must reply that in a letter in your sister paper The Oxford Times a couple of weeks ago made clear: 1. Labour's opposition to the scheme in the area from Magdalen Road to Howard Street was: 2. Only a reflection of the view of the majority of residents as conveyed to the county council in the recent consultation exercise and as shown also at the recent public meeting in the church in Magdalen Road.

3. We (Labour) have taken a back seat: local residents without party affiliation have been driving the anti-CPZ activities. It was Craig who made the first political move, coming out strongly in favour of the scheme (The Oxford Times, December 20), with no mandate to do so.

It is good that the county council has listened to residents and not imposed the scheme in the Magdalen Road to Howard Street area and I hope residents west of Magdalen Road are happy with the scheme when it comes in.
