THE repatriation of a soldier killed in Afghanistan last week will take place on Thursday.

Captain Rupert Bowers, of 2nd Battalion, the Mercian Regiment, was leading a patrol in Helmand province when he was killed by a bomb on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old, from Wolverhampton, was commanding a small team responsible for training and development of Afghan troops. The Ministry of Defence has yet to announce what time the plane carrying his body will land at RAF Brize Norton.
