IN response to James Morris’s letter (March 1) atheism in its truest form is non-religious and a belief in nature.

Atheists do not have to prove the non-existence of God, or a God-like being because, in essence, God only lives in the people who believe in him.

A question for Mr Morris: can he prove the existence of God?

Atheists do not attack, as they have nothing to defend, least of all the rights of others to believe in what they will.

Another question for Mr Morris: how many people have died needlessly in religious wars in comparison to atheist struggles?

Hitler was born a Catholic; Stalin was schooled by Jesuits in his formative years; and Mao was also schooled by Jesuits.

So, as Mr Morris says, back to the drawing board. Atheism has had a rejuvenescence due to people finding it difficult to understand religion and what it is supposed to stand for.

The unseen forces which rule our lives are religion and big business, not atheism, and will continue to so so.
