ANTIQUES experts cast their eye over possessions with both financial and sentimental value yesterday.

Didcot’s very own version of the Antiques Roadshow attracted more than 50 people – and their most treasured possessions – to the civic hall.

The session was not the official BBC version but was staged instead by the family support charity Home-Start, which has an office in Broadway.

Pauline Fleming brought along a ship’s wheel to the Britwell Road hall to be valued.

Part-time carer Ms Fleming, 66, from Didcot, said: “It has no real value but it’s very important to me because it reminds me of my son Lee Fleming.

“He died from cancer three years ago.

“Lee had been living in Germany and brought the wheel back as a present for me, so I shall treasure it.

“It has great sentimental value.”
