nless I have been misinformed, the council (and other local authorities) have spent thousands of pounds over the last three years with telephone calls to the speaking clock.

Have you not heard of radio-controlled clocks?

Last year I purchased, for less than £10, such a clock which gives the following information – time to the nearest second, plus day, date, week of the year, temperature and phase of the moon (if required it will even give the information in a number of other languages!) This obviates the need to ring the speaking clock and also saves on thermometers.

Added bonus to costs is the fact it runs on two AA batteries.

Hopefully staff can be made aware of this modern invention and also cut the council tax!
