THE internally-run Oxfordshire County Council school dinners service has given, across this year, the council a £900,000 surplus (Oxford Mail, February 7).
So what do the council members do?
They open the dinner service up to private contractors of course!
So now they will lose that surplus because they put ideology ahead of all common sense.
The councillor Melinda Tilley has said the present quality will be maintained. This is codswallop.
The new dinner charge will be reduced to £2.
Hold on: how can these councillors cost these dinners if the bidding process has not commenced?
Unless, of course, the £900,000 surplus is already to be in the pocket of the successful bidder.
