A new version of a 50-year-old British classic car is thankfully not being made abroad, but by a small firm in Steventon.
The team of 12 at Frontline Developments is to produce 50 special MGs to mark the MGB’s 50th birthday in May this year.
Using original moulds held by British Motor Heritage, in Witney, and even some of the original tools, the small team are reproducing the classic car with a modern engine.
But it is a sign of the changes in motor manufacturing in Britain that a car that once epitomised affordable sports car driving, is being recreated as a strictly limited edition model with a starting price of £50,000.
