THE RESULTS of an investigation into the state of an Oxfordshire animal rescue centre could take months to be made public, the RSPCA has said.

The charity’s officers continued to work at Crunchy’s Animal Rescue in Longworth, near Abingdon, yesterday, five days after they moved in to seize 78 pets.

The bodies of a horse and a domestic rabbit have also been removed from the site in Faringdon Road, which is also known as Crunchies Rescue.

The RSPCA, which was alerted by concerned members of the public, said it was unable to divulge whether or not anyone had been arrested or interviewed under caution.

Spokesman Calie Rydings said: “Unfortunately we aren’t able to put out any further information beyond our original statement.

“It could be weeks or even months before we can release information to the public.

“We have a duty to protect people working with animals but we also have a responsibility to the animals themselves.”

The animals removed from the site include dogs, horses, goats, cats, chickens and ducks.

Crunchy’s is a registered charity which states in its Charities Commission listing that it provides “advice and assistance to people about caring for animals”.
