A LOUT who waved a knife at a paramedic, spat at a policeman and racially abused a carboot seller has been given an Asbo.

Kyran McFarlane, who has 45 previous convictions, has been responsible for a string of offending around the Kassam Stadium and Oxford city centre.

The 21-year-old was jailed for 10 months on January 16 and returned to Oxford Crown Court on Monday to be given the Antisocial Behaviour Order.

McFarlane’s current sentence stems from an incident outside the former Regal nightclub in Cowley Road, East Oxford, on December 16.

When a paramedic intervened to break up a disturbance outside the venue, McFarlane brandished a knife and, when later arrested, was found in possession of knuckle dusters and cannabis.

Judge Patrick Eccles imposed a two-year Asbo.

Under its terms, McFarlane, of Emperor Gardens, Greater Leys, is banned from carrying any knife in public without a reasonable excuse, including normally legal blades of less than three inches long.

He is also prohibited from entering the area around the Kassam Stadium and its car parks, though is allowed to go to the Ozone complex, and must not spit at anyone.

Last night, Blackbird Leys neighbourhood Sergeant Rob Axe said: “He’s got a long history of offending in and around the estate and it’s really good thing that he’s got this Asbo.”
