THE vandal behind a new graffiti tag on a string of Oxford buildings is being hunted by police.

Officers are calling on the public help them find those behind the ‘Halal’ tag.

Pc Paul Jones, of East Oxford neighbourhood team has spotted the graffiti in St Clements, Magdalen Road, Essex Street, Golden Road, Charles Street and on the Co-op shop in Iffley Road.

It has also been daubed on to shops and buildings in the city centre and North Oxford, Knead Me Massage in Botley Road and buildings in Park End Street and Speedwell Street.

In North Oxford, the Alexandra Tennis Courts and the railway bridge at First Turn, Wolvercote, have both been targeted in the spate since mid-December.

Pc Jones said: “It’s a new tag to Oxford and we are just trying to identify who this is.”

Some tags are followed by the initials BWS, but their significance is unclear.
