CHILDREN got an early Christmas present when they called in at Santa’s grotto at Oxford Town Hall.
Peering out from behind his beard, Father Christmas entertained youngsters with Christmas stories before they were invited to choose their presents.
Among the children who were captivated by Santa on Wednesday were brothers Jim, five, and John Allen, 10, who live off Woodstock Road, North Oxford.
John, a pupil at St Aloysius Primary School, said: “It was fun meeting Santa and now I’m really looking forward to Christmas.”
The boys’ aunt, Clare Calnan, from Abingdon, who took them to the St Aldate’s venue, said: “We went round Oxford looking for Santa and we found him in his grotto at the town hall.
“People paid for their presents and the boys got a book each from Santa’s sack.
“The Father Christmas was an excellent storyteller and I think these grottos are a lovely Christmas tradition.”
