I WOULD like to thank all those who helped to make this year’s Poppy Appeal in Witney such a success.
From all the helpers who collected, the Army cadets for giving up their Saturday to help us with the street collection in the town and the cafés which let our people use their facilities when needed and giving them drinks to keep them going.
And a big thanks to all the businesses which sold poppies on their premises.
Thanks to everybody’s efforts we collected a grand total of £18,899.17 from the poppies, plus we were donated a cheque from a concert for £1,300.
This means that the Witney Branch of the Royal British Legion was able to send the appeal a total of £20,199.17.
K Songhurst, Honorary Poppy Appeal organiser, Witney Royal British Legion, Abbey Road
