WITH just three days left before Christmas police officers are hoping for a tip-off that will lead them to Nasir Akhtar.

Our Badvent Day 22 suspect is a 24-year-old man from Oxford who police have questions for after a brawl outside a supermarket.

Akhtar is wanted for questioning over common assault, affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

The fight broke out at the Co-op in Cherwell Drive, Headington, at about 7.30pm on July 31 after two women were asked to leave.

Police said they had caused a scene inside by being verbally aggressive.

A member of the Co-op staff was then assaulted by two men who came into the shop as the dispute unfolded.

The fight spilled out into the street with other staff members and passersby trying to break up the fight.

Pc Kim Pringle said: “It is believed that the man threatened staff with a metal pole. We are still searching for him, although three other suspects have been arrested for various public order offences.”

Pc Pringle added: “Nasir Akhtar is Asian, 6ft 2ins and of heavy build. He sometimes has a beard and long sideburns. Nasir has links to Cowley and may be driving a black VW Passat or an old, box-shaped green VW Golf.”

With four suspects already arrested and one already charged and sentenced during the Oxford Mail’s Badvent countdown to Christmas, police officers are urging readers to keep the information coming.

Anyone who can help police to locate Nasir Akhtar is asked to contact PC Pringle on the non-emergency number 101. If you don’t want to speak to police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
