A train passenger was assaulted by three men in an unprovoked attack and thrown off at Bicester North Station.

British Transport Police (BTP) last night released images of five people they want to speak to in connection with the attack.

The 29-year-old victim boarded the Chiltern Railways train at London Marylebone with his girlfriend.

When the train arrived at Princes Risborough about half-an-hour later a group of five adults got on with four children and sat close to the victim and his partner.

Pc Dean Percival, of BTP, said: “Suddenly, and completely unprovoked, one of the men approached the victim and told him to get off the train. When the victim refused, the man grabbed him and a scuffle broke out.

“The victim was pushed into the doors of the train before being subjected to a sustained attack in which he was outnumbered when two more men from the group joined in. The victim was punched and kicked about his ribs and torso before one of the men tried to hit him with a glass wine bottle.”

When the train arrived at Bicester North the men pushed the victim off the train and the assault continued on the platform as the victim tried to return to the carriage to get his luggage. He was unable to retrieve his belongings and was left stranded.

The victim, from Harlow, suffered bruising and a fractured hand in the attack at about 4.30pm on Saturday, November 5.

Police said the group left the train at Banbury.

Pc Percival said: “This was a violent and unprovoked attack on a man who had no chance of defending himself. This is good CCTV and I hope someone will remember seeing this large group.

“It was a very frightening ordeal for the victim and his girlfriend.”
