SHOPPERS are being urged to become ‘secret Santas’ and give a Christmas gift to support mental health charity Mind.

Shop manager Claire Jones who is based at the Mind store in Walton Street, is urging shoppers to spend a bit extra when they do their Christmas shopping so that they can donate an item to the store. Shoppers could also bring in an unwanted item from their homes, she said.

Charity fundraisers are seeking toys, books, clothing, jewellery, accessories and winter wear.

Ms Jones said: “Christmas is when many think about how we can give to charity as well as what to give each other, and we’re thrilled that people are coming in to pick up gifts and stocking fillers.

“Even if you’re not planning on buying from the charity this year, we are asking people to drop in and make a donation — essentially adding someone they don’t know to their Christmas list.”
