A COUPLE plan to celebrate what would have been their tragic baby’s second birthday with a charity fun day — but they need some help.

Gemma and Luke Froude have already raised more than £20,000 in memory of their son Finnley, who died last year.

The tiny tot was born 12 weeks premature, weighing just 1lb 4oz. Sadly, at just 18 weeks old his heart was not strong enough to survive an infection and he died last June.

Last year, Mr and Mrs Froude focused on helping others to get them through the difficult day which would have marked his first birthday.

And this year they want to do the same.

The fun day takes place on Saturday, January 28, at Banbury Town Hall, Bridge Street, from 9am to 5pm, but the couple are desperate for donations to make the event a success.

People are being urged to dig deep and donate items such as toys, books, games, cds, craft items, bric a brac, tombola and raffle prizes, and cakes.

All money raised from Finnley’s Day will be donated to SSNAP (Support for the Sick Newborn And their Parents), the charity which supports the special care baby unit at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital, where Finnley was cared for. Anyone who can help should email Finnleyfroude@hotmail.co.uk or call 07717 710262.

  • EARLIER this year the couple were presented with a certificate of merit by charity SSNAP in recognition of their efforts raising £20,840.66.
