TALENT scouts will be on the streets of Oxfordshire this month to spot potential winners of the Miss England contest.

A model agency is launching a countywide search for aspiring beauty queens as it tries to find the next Miss Oxfordshire.

Front Models, which specialises in supplying models for promotional work, is looking for women aged 17 to 24 to take part in Miss Oxfordshire and succeed, current Miss Oxford Kirsty Beer, pictured left.

Whoever wins will qualify for a place in the Miss England 2012 grand final.

Front Models spokesman Liz Griffiths said: “Our scouts will be out and about in Oxfordshire over the next few weeks and in the new year to spot women who we think might have a chance of winning Miss Oxfordshire and Miss England.

“Although our scouts will be out looking for likely candidates ourselves, any women aged 17 to 24 can enter the competition.”

Dance teacher Miss Beer, 21, from Cumnor, said: “I found the experience of being in the competition great fun and I have made friends with other contestants.”

The winner of Miss Oxfordshire will automatically qualify for a place in the Miss England 2012 grand final taking place in April, with the chance of representing her country in the Miss World competition at end of next year.

The current Miss England is Alize Mounter, left, from Kensington, London.

Miss Oxford winner Eleanor Glynn won Miss England and competed in Miss World in 2006, while Miss Oxford winner Daniella Luan won Miss England to compete in the 2002 Miss World contest.

Finalists will be selected to take part in the Miss Oxfordshire final in March where they will be required to take part in four rounds – an interview, a sportswear round, a daywear and an evening wear round.
