THIS futuristic grand design could soon stand in the posh residential area of Boars Hill.

Lincombe House in Lincombe Lane would be demolished to make way for the energy-efficient four-bed home.

House prices in the exclusive area average well over £1m, but the site has been empty for more than 10 years.

Agents Long Wittenham-based RSA Architects said in the planning application: “Our client was very excited to have found such a stunning site in a desirable location and the opportunity to create a grand design dwelling.

“Our brief was for an ecologically-efficient, contemporary house with an area of about 350 square metres and large areas of glass giving views into the stunning garden from the living, kitchen and sitting areas.

“The design encompasses all the theory of sustainability and will stand as an excellent example of contemporary design.”

Chairman of the Boars Hill Association Susan Reynolds, who also lives in Lincombe Lane, added: “Personally I think it looks like a very exciting modern house which I am certainly not against.

“Boars Hill should move with the times.”

Shopkeeper Raj Parshad had a planning application to build a futuristic six-bedroom home in Boars Hill approved by Vale of White Horse District Council in May.

The home, designed by Abingdon architects West Waddy, is to replace a two-storey home but work has not yet begun. Mr Parshad runs a grocery store in Reynolds Way, Abingdon.

Sunningwell Parish Council chairman Hilary Lynam-Smith said the new development would have to fit in with planning rules for the area, adding: “Everything is now fairly tight and everything has guidelines.”

The district council aims to make a decision next month.
