THE historic Marlborough Hotel in Witney is set to reopen tomorrow under its new name, The Blue Boar.

After four months of restoration and refurbishment work costing £1.5m, the High Street hotel and bar is almost ready to open its doors.

New owner Peter Borg-Neal, who also owns the Old Post Office gastro-pub in Wallingford, said: “The Blue Boar’s interior looks amazing and everything is really coming together.

“There has been an enormous amount of work to do and our team has been working around the clock to meet the opening date.

“We are now in the final preparations for our opening with our new team undergoing training and familiarising themselves with all the various aspects of the new refurbishment from bedrooms to bar, restaurant to rest rooms and cafe to kitchen.”

Each of the hotel’s 20 bedrooms have been individually decorated and feature high-tech gadgets, including flat screen TVs, iPod docks and free Wi-Fi.

The courtyard has been renovated and will be overlooked by a new cafe and restaurant, and a new function room will seat 50 for weddings, meetings and events.

The venture has created about 50 jobs, including waiters, bartenders, kitchen staff, chefs and receptionists.

The hotel used to employ 12.
