Sir – Since the council are determined to waste money on re-sorting Frideswide Square yet again, perhaps they’d be prepared to do the one thing that I’ve never seen mentioned, and that is to cover the ancient redbrick mess that Botley Road Bridge presently is with some (“cheap and cheerful”?!) screed or cladding.

Perhaps some architect could win a prize for designing say a Tudor arch, seeing as they are always wasting money on consultations, after all it is supposed to be the “gateway to the West”.
