WHILE a member of the public was working out at the gym, a thief flexed his muscles in a different way, breaking into his locker to snatch his wallet and sprint away.

Police officers now hope Badvent suspect number seven, caught on the gym’s CCTV system, below, holds the key to solving the crime.

They want Oxford Mail readers to name him and tell them where he is.

The victim was training in the LA Fitness gym in St Ebbe’s Street, Oxford, unaware that in the men’s changing room someone had forced the locker open and was rifling through his belongings.

Police officers believe the thief struck at sometime between 2pm and 4pm on Wednesday, October 26, taking a driving licence and bank cards, which were later used to withdraw a total of £900 in cash at Tesco and Morrisons supermarkets in Banbury and the Nationwide in Oxford.

When challenged by a cashier at the Nationwide, the man grabbed the cash and fled, abandoning the debit card and driving licence.

The first the victim knew of the crime was when he got a call from the bank.

Pc Aidan Donohoe said: “The victim of this crime went to do his daily workout and ended the day over £1,000 worse off – an expensive trip to the gym.
