THE final two bidders to redevelop Bicester’s community hospital have been announced.

Designs by firms Kajima and Community Solutions will now go forward to the next stage of the project to replace the current hospital, which is no longer fit for purpose.

Final proposals will be submitted to Oxfordshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) by January, and a decision will be made by its board in March.

Project manager Riana Relihan said: “The PCT has selected Kajima and Community Solutions to proceed to full tender stage having assessed their outline proposals to deliver the new hospital facilities.

“The PCT considered each organisation’s bid proposal which included the design solution for the NHS facility, the site masterplan as a whole, and their ability to deliver the facility within the specification and terms of the contract.

She added: “The two companies are now in a further dialogue stage with the PCT to enable them to submit detailed tenders that fully address the requirements of the project.”

The new hospital will include 12 beds, a first aid unit and therapies and X-ray facilities.

The PCT say it is on target to sign the contract for the redevelopment of the Kings End hospital next October.
