Under the Government’s relaunched Right to Buy scheme, the vast majority of tenants living in council homes across the city could get up to a 50 per cent discount if they buy their homes.
Bearing in mind full details of this scheme are yet to be released, it’s fair to assume that with property prices in Oxford on a par with London, many will take up this offer.
But at what price to the city’s already dire housing need. To say that homes will be replaced by new council properties just doesn’t ring true. We can’t seem to build any as it is.
