AN ABINGDON woman has raised about £500 for Against Breast Cancer after a skydive in memory of her mum, who died of cancer.
Sara Sexon, 42, of Sherwood Avenue, did the tandem skydive with an instructor last month at the Hinton Skydiving Centre.
Her mum Lynda Caple, of John Mason Road, suffered from breast cancer and died of ovarian cancer in 1994, aged 49.
Mrs Sexon, a nursery nurse at Abingdon Kindergarten, had to wait two weeks as the jump was cancelled twice due to bad weather.
She said: “I was excited from the moment I had confirmation that I would be able to do it.
“During the free fall, which lasted around 40 to 45 seconds, I felt totally exhilarated and a little breathless, the gliding after the parachute opened was fantastic.
“After landing I felt like I was walking on air, it was just awesome. I am so happy to have done it now, and I know my mum would be proud too.”
