ARTWORK by some of the best emerging and established urban artists has gone on display at Oxford’s Old Fire Station in its inaugural exhibition.

Pieces from a range of artists working in different media is on show at the George Street venue, with artwork on sale to help keep the newly-established charity running.

Jeremy Spafford, director of arts at the Old Fire Station, said: “A lot of the artists featured here are now beginning to produce real investment items, some of whom are self-taught artists who learned their art on the street and have now moved into the studio.

“It’s striking, some of it is quite dark and some of it is quite contentious, as you would expect from urban art.”

Prices start from £200 and go up to £4,000, with the exhibition on display until Friday, December 2.

Mr Spafford said: “This was about using the fantastic space on these huge white walls to display something really interesting and intriguing.

“I think they work really well and the people coming so far are really impressed – we really hope people will want to take away a gem with them.”
