THE manager and staff of one Oxford pub think their facial hair antics are a real barrel of laughs.

Chuck Berry, 64, the manager of the Turf Tavern, in Bath Place, and 10 of his staff, are taking part in the fundraising initiative ‘Movember’, which challenges men to grow moustaches in November, to raise awareness of prostate and testicular cancer.

The fuzzy fellas are two weeks into their challenge and taking it very seriously. Mr Berry even went the extra mile by shaving off his existing moustache, so he could start growing a new one all over again.

He said: “It came as a terrible shock actually. I’ve had that moustache for 35 years and it was pretty draughty when it came off. But I didn’t want to be the odd one out.

“Unfortunately, I had also just come back from a holiday in the West Indies, so I also looked very strange with this big, white, un-tanned patch where my moustache had been.”

She said: “He has had one as long as I can remember and I hate him being clean shaven.”
