Luca Skywalks through Radley Defence.

A hat-trick from Luca Sykes helped Kidlington gain a 5-3 victory at table-topping Radley in the U11 A league.

Kidlington started brightly, keeping possession well in the first few minutes and were rewarded when Sykes powered a shot into the top corner in the 5th minute. Radley retaliated, having much of the ball, but were restricted to few clear goal-scoring chances by an excellent defensive display from the visitors. Radley always looked dangerous from set pieces, and only an excellent save by Ben Owen stopped them equalising from a free-kick on 17 minutes. On their next attack however, Kieran Hill scored a great individual goal after an excellent solo run through Kidlington's defence.

Almost from the kick-off Sykes restored the visitors lead, converting a cross from close range. As half-time neared, Radley were controversially awarded a free kick on the edge of the Kidlington box. There was no doubt about the outcome however, as Finlay Irving powered the ball into the top corner to level the scores at 2-2. Callum Rolfe nearly put the visitors ahead again when he dispossessed the keeper on the sideline, but saw his shot from a tight angle rebound off the post, and the half finished level.

Rolfe turned provider in the second minute after the break, as Sykes completed his hat-trick from close range. Radley had much of the possession, but Kidlington again hit them on the break, with an exceptional solo goal from right back Archie Littlewood, who won the ball in midfield, ran to the edge of the box and fired a spectacular shot into the top corner. Radley quickly pulled one back when Fyn O'Shea converted from close range following a scramble in the Kidlington box on 41 minutes. The last 20 minutes were very tense. Radley had chances to equalise, but the visitors defended brilliantly as a unit and tried to hit Radley on the break. Only a great save from the Radley keeper prevented Rolfe scoring a break-away goal, but Kidlington were not to be denied, and as Radley pushed forward, a swift passing move the length of the pitch converted by Ben Stewart put them 5-3 up and the they held out at the back to record a hard-earned victory.
