FOR years, Henrietta Nagy was treated like a freak.

At 6ft 2in tall and with size 10 feet, she was subjected to cruel jibes from classmates and compared to a giraffe by bullies.

But now, the 32-year-old considers her height to be a source of pride and wants to tell other tall women that big is beautiful.

Hungarian-born Ms Nagy, of Botley, said: “Height has always influenced a large portion of my life. It determines what I wear, where I shop, who my friends are.

“In my entire life, I have been taller than the average. It started at nursery when I already towered over all my classmates.

“Due to my height, I found it increasingly difficult to fit in, to belong and to make friends. I spent a large amount of time on my own.

“I was very much bullied at school and was called all sorts of names. “ Ms Nagy said when she was 13 she decided she would no longer be a ‘victim’ of her height.

She said: “I started to take some practical steps to feel happier about my body image. Every day for about 20 minutes, I would walk with a book on my head, making sure my back was straight and I held my head up.

“I started to pay close attention to the way I carried my body, my image and I changed my dressing style, ensure that I looked, and more importantly felt, truly feminine in the clothes I was wearing.

“Surprisingly, the more comfortable I felt about myself, the more compliments I started to receive.”

Ms Nagy now works as a coach for other tall women and is hosting a ‘tall talk’ to inspire others to change their lives like she has.

She said: “I want to tell women to stand tall. Wear your height with pride and show the world that you are wonderful.”

The Tall Event will be at 6pm on December 10, at North Oxford Association Community Centre, Diamond Place, Summertown.

HENRIETTA@S TOP TIPS Improve your body posture. Walk with a book on your head for 20 minutes each day. Make sure that you never slouch!

Travel to countries like Holland, Austria and Germany, where the population is generally taller and admire other tall people.

Take up a sport where you can gain advantage from your height. Join a basketball, rowing, athletics, swimming or water polo club to get regular exercise and also to connect with other ‘tallies’.

Ask yourself positive questions about your height: Why is it good to be tall? What can I do to take even better care of my body? If I really loved my height, what image would I want to portray?
