Remembrance Sunday and the silence before the match was impeccably observed by all the boys, however the match was a far from a quiet affair with ten goals in total and endless chances at both ends of the pitch.

Faringdon took the lead with their first attack of the game when Daniel Jacobs finished coolly after latching onto a defence splitting pass from Jack Townsend. However it wasn’t long before Summertown forced their way back into the game and, despite a number of good saves from the Faringdon keeper Leon Redwood-Hanson, had scored two goals. Faringdon didn’t give up though and Daniel Jacobs grabbed his second goal of the day to bring the scores level. Then with the first half drawing to close a fast break and good passing move saw Faringdon move back in front with a goal from Joe Wetherall.

The second half carried on in the same vein as the first with Faringdon moving into a 4-2 lead with a goal from Benji Procter. Summertown weren’t lying down though and quickly reduced the deficit back to one goal. Numerous chances followed for both teams before Patrick Noakes again took Faringdon’s lead to two goals. But again Summertown came back with another goal. Then finally, after hitting the crossbar and the post in the second half, Daniel Jacobs completed his hat-trick to wrap-up the game 6-4 for Faringdon. Summertown’s goal scorers were Stefan Roxanis (x2), Noah Rechter and Luke Stephenson
