POLICE hope to have the M40 southbound open again by midday.
The motorway southbound has been shut between junctions 9 and 8A for more than seven hours following a collision between three vehicles.
Thames Valley Police have just said they hope to re-open the carriageway between 11.30 and 12 but that will be dependent on the investigation and recovery work that is still ongoing.
A diversion around the ringroad and out on the A40 is in place.
Two people were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with serious injuries following the crash at 3.07am. Seven other people were treated or assessed by paramedics at the scene but did not need taki to hospital.
