Beaming bride Donna Burton made sure her wedding was a day to remember — on Remembrance Day.
Poppies are the bride’s favourite flower and she wanted to base her wedding day around the bloom.
She even chose Armistice Day to get married as a tribute to her grandfather Dan Dunsmore and the other soldiers who fought in the Second World War.
Scores of poppies lined the church aisle, the entrance and the altar as the 31-year-old married bathroom tiler Richard Jones, 29, pictured, yesterday at St Mary’s the Virgin church, Long Wittenham.
Donna said: “Poppies were always my favourite flower growing up so I wanted to incorporate them into my wedding.”
The couple, of Evenlode Drive, Berinsfield, met three years ago in an Oxford bar.
