RE road rage (Oxford Mail, October 28) with the fear of more traffic in Marston and Northway, should the 1,000 new homes be built in Barton West: The article states that the city council owns the land so the houses will get built whatever. No problem, as new homes are required, as long as access is from the ring road only and not though Marston or Northway.

In the report, a county council spokesman says that “surveys have previously shown that across the area the level of parking by non-residents is low”.

He should have gone to Specsavers, as Old Marston is the only part of the whole area that does not have residents’ parking. Brookes students are the worst culprits and they park dangerously on junctions and on the grass verges. When the bad weather comes the verges will be muddy quagmires.

The PCSOs used to come fairly often and ticket any vehicle parked dangerously or too far over a pavement to obstruct mothers with buggies. Now, if you are lucky, you might see them on their bikes on a Sunday afternoon when there isn’t a parking problem.

I defy anyone to contradict me saying they are not Brookes people, as in the holidays we don’t have the problem and I have actually spoken to some who admit they are Brookes students.

Surely Brookes have some land left on which they can build a car park. You have the same problem in Wheatley also.
