HE’LL be there barring any further natural disasters or revolutions.

Both have forced journalist Jon Snow to pull out of a village hall talk in West Oxfordshire.

And ticket holders are hoping nothing else stops the anticipated talk going ahead next month.

Mr Snow is booked in to talk about his career as a journalist on Friday, November 11, at Wootton-by-Woodstock village hall at 7.30pm.

Talks organiser Andy Morgan said: “It’s the fourth time we have tried to get Jon Snow here and each time he has beenforced to postpone his talk he’s been very apologetic.

“In January last year, Jon had to postpone because of the earthquake in Haiti and then earlier this year he had to fly to Cairo to cover the Egyptian revolution.

“The event is sold out and we are hoping a natural disaster doesn’t intervene this time round.”

Mr Snow attended St Edward’s School in Oxford, and is also a former Chancellor of Oxford Brookes University.

He has worked for ITN, which produces Channel 4 News, since 1976.

BBC Breakfast presenter Bill Turnbull will give a talk on beekeeping at the hall in December whileNewsnight presenter Jeremy Paxman is due to give a talk in February.

And the tables will be turned on Jeremy Paxman in two weeks, when he takes questions about his new book in Chipping Norton.

The journalist and presenter, famous for his tough questions on BBC Two’s Newsnight, will appear at Chipping Norton Town Hall on Thursday, November 10.

He will discuss his new book, Empire: What Ruling the World did to the British, and take questions from the public.

Mr Paxman will be introduced by Patrick Neale, who co-owns Middle Row bookshop and cafe Jaffé and Neal.

Mr Neale said: “It will no doubt be an entertaining evening. “Jeremy has written a fascinating book giving a new twist to the story of Britain painting the map red.”

He added: “I am really looking forward to introducing Mr Paxman and it is great to have another celebrity author called Jeremy in town.”

Chipping Norton is home to fellow journalist and presenter Jeremy Clarkson, who hosts BBC Two show Top Gear.

Tickets to the event, which will run from 7.30pm, cost £10 and are available from Jaffé and Neale. For more details call 01608 641033.
