A 71-year-old woman fell victim to a distraction burglar at her home in Lenthall Road, Rose Hill.
Detectives are now trying to trace the man who posed as a carer to snatch £50 at about 7pm on Saturday.
He is described as white, aged in his twenties, about 6ft tall, of slim build, with short cropped, fair-coloured hair and blue eyes.
He was wearing a cream coloured waterproof coat, a blue polo shirt, black trousers and white trainers.
