THE President of Mongolia visited the city yesterday to give a talk to the Oxford Union.
Tsakhia Elbegdorj, who has been president since 2009, spoke to Oxford University students about the development of his country, sometimes informally referred to as Outer Mongolia, as well as meeting some of the university’s staff.
While in the city he also dropped by Town Hall to meet Oxford’s Lord Mayor Elise Benjamin, pictured.
Mrs Benjamin said: “It was a pleasure to meet the president and hear a little bit about his country and an honour for Oxford.
“His interest in the city is as great as his interest in the university.”
Mr Elbegdorj arrived in the country on Thursday and will stay until Sunday.
During his visit he will also be meeting with British government officials.
