Despite having a large amount of possession and creating a number of good chances, Woodcote found themselves 2-0 down at half time. Having failed to pick up a single point in their last three league games, spectators at Sunnyside could have been forgiven for expecting the visitors to crumble in the second half, but Woodcote rallied and got themselves back into the game with 15 minutes remaining. Harry Voice's cross was ajudged to have been handled by a Benson defender in the area and the referee awarded a penalty. Sean Donohue stepped up and scored his second goal of the season. But the drama didn't end there as a Benson defender took his protests about the penalty decision too far and was shown a straight red card by the referee. Against ten men, Woodcote continued to pile forward and were rewarded with a second goal three minutes later. Luke Williams long ball was met by Harry Voice who lifted the ball over the onrushing keeper to level the score at 2-2. It could have got even better for Woodcote as Robert Carr, making his first appearance of the season, forced a save from the Benson keeper late on. Overall, a draw was a fair result. The two sides meet again in three weeks time in the second round of the league cup.
