A MUSICAL project which has been “on track” for more than a year is finally set to get another performance.

Soundtracks is a celebration of the upgrading of the Cotswold Line and features 70 performers who attempt to capture the history of the much loved railway.

Moments of the line’s history are picked out and reproduced through music, poetry and dancing, including a poem about commuters.

It was first performed at the Memorial Hall in Charlbury in October last year and will return to the village’s St Mary’s Church on October 22.

Director Katherine Lucas, from Charlbury, said: “It has been herculean to organise.

“We were originally going to do 20 minutes but we got carried away and wanted to tell the whole story of the Cotswold Line so we ended up with a full show.”

Jackie Singer, who wrote the music, said: “The most exciting thing for me is hearing things that I conceived in my head being sung by so many people.

“To hear my own music being sung by a choir is thrilling.”

The double track of the Cotswold Line was fully opened at the end of August.

After two years of work the £67m project reverses cuts made in the early 1970s by fitting 16 miles of track between Moreton-in-Marsh and Evesham.

Another four miles of extra track were opened in June between Ascott-under-Wychwood and Charlbury along with new platforms at both stations.
