CAROLINE Tyler thinks her pumpkins are just perfect.

After hearing reports that this year’s crop was not up to scratch Mrs Tyler, 49, who runs the Old Farm Shop in Milton Hill, was keen to put the record straight.

She said: “We’ve had a fantastic year for pumpkins. They are definitely bigger and the quantity is a lot more than normal. We have probably got more than 1,000 this year. We’ve doubled our crop.Pumpkin is a vegetable that people are using a little bit more.”

Her son Tony Tyler revealed the secret behind their perfect pumpkins, which were planted back in May.

He said: “You’ve got to keep the ground moist through the last part of the summer and use fertilizer to help them out a little, but that’s all we do.”

The Tylers have been growing pumpkins for eight years.
