DANCERS of all ages and from two different continents are being brought together for a unique event at Oxf-ord’s Pegasus Theatre.

Summertown dancer Cec-ilia Macfarlane, 62, has invited seven adults from Dugout Adult Community Dance, aged between 30 and 68, and seven children from Oxford Youth Dance aged seven to 13 to perform in the show.

Three guest professional dancers from the UK have also been invited to join in, while Japanese dancer Manizia, 50, will bring a further 15 dancers with her for the event which lasts from Wednesday, October 26 to Friday, October 28.

The artists have not worked together before their meeting later this month.

Ms Macfarlane said: “What makes the show exciting and different will be having dancers of all ages and experiences from two very different cultures sharing dance commonly, being creative and adventurous together.

“Hopefully audiences will be moved and inspired by this large group of dancers from such different cultures sharing their dance.

“And all the work they see will have been made in three days by the dancers.”

The newly formed troupe will perform a new piece, Wings, inspired by images of flight and transformation.

The project has been commissioned by Pegasus in partnership with Oxford Youth Dance and Arts at the Old Fire Station.

Tickets, available from Pegasus box office 01865 812150, cost £7 and performances start at 7.30pm.
