I fear Cllrs Sanders and Dhall (Oxford Mail, October 7) have entirely missed the point I have been making about translation of council documents. Whether this is deliberate or not, I leave to others to judge.
It cannot make sense for children to leave school each day where they learn in English and return to a home where English is never spoken. We should be doing everything to ensure these children gain the skills and aspirations to secure worthwhile employment where the ability to read, write and think in English has to be key. Encouraging cultural and racial apartheid is not good for our children or our communities.
KEITH R MITCHELL, Leader of the County Council, Oxford
