PLANS for an interactive water feature in Wallingford have gone on show.

The £180,000 feature will replace the paddling pool at Riverside Park and is due to open in May. It will be for toddlers through to 12-year-olds and will be free.

Also, the picnic area will be improved with new fencing and gates in South Oxfordshire District Council’s plan for the site on banks of the River Thames.

The designs, which have not yet been finalised, will be displayed in south Oxfordshire leisure centres and primary schools in Wallingford and Crowmarsh Gifford until October 14.

Bill Service, cabinet member for leisure and grants, said: “The paddling pool in the park had been popular over the years, but had got to the point where it needed overhauling.

“As well as being much safer and more cost-effective than paddling pools, interactive water features are more fun and interesting for children, and can help develop problem solving and teamwork.”
