THE wife of cancer campaigner Clive Stone has lost her own battle with the disease.

Jan Stone, 61, from Eynsham, died at Sir Michael Sobell House on October 3.

Mother-of-two Mrs Stone was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, two years after her husband was diagnosed with kidney cancer.

Oxford Mail columnist Mr Stone has spoken of his “feisty but intensely private” wife to mark Hospice Week, which runs until Friday.

Mr Stone, who helps to run the Friends of Renal Oncology Group, said: “Jan helped others, and she was a caring, kind and considerate person.

“She helped so many people. I have had so many messages from members of our support group with memories.”

A private cremation service for Mrs Stone will be followed by a celebration of life event at St Leonard’s Church, Eynsham, at noon on Friday.

“We would love for people to donate to Sobell House, rather than give flowers,” he added.
