Summertown Supergiants scored their first victory in the White League with a hard fought victory over Hinksey.

The first match started in chilly conditions and Hinksey were the first team to come close to scoring. The Summertown goalkeeper was in good form to keep them out and his team were then able to open the scoring with a shot from inside the penalty area. The game became a real end to end affair with Hinksey taking advantage playing downhill to put together a number of excellent passing movements, which they were just unable to finish off. Summertown counter-attacked and scored a second goal through a penalty on the stroke of half time. The second half was also strongly fought, Summertown pressed hard for a third goal but could not find a way past the Hinksey defence. Five minutes from time, Hinksey scored a deserved goal and pushed hard for an equaliser but were held off by the Summertown defence. The first game therefore ended 2-1 to Summertown.

The second match was also well contested, both teams had a number of chances to score in the first half, but Hinksey were again unluckly with their finishing. Summertown scored once before the break through a first time scorer in the league. Summertown pulled away in the second half taking advantage of a strong wind and downhill slope and eventually ran out 4-0 winners and 6-1 overall.

Congratulations to Hinksey on continuing to battle througout both games, a most enjoyable morning's entertainment.
