A PARK-AND-RIDE is not much good if it lives up to only half its title.

Motorists arriving at Thornhill this week have reported scenes of chaos. It is a good example of how a two tier system of local government can create confusion.

Now it seems the only glimmer of hope – the planned £4m expansion of the site – is still a good way off.

Is it too much to ask the city and county councils get together to sort this out quickly?

If they can’t then maybe responsibility should be given to just one authority so we can at least have some consistency. Either way, things cannot continue as they are.
