JUNIOR entrepreneurs looking to start their own businesses in the future are being invited to a special event.

Students from the county’s schools and colleges will meet business leaders to discover the best way to go about becoming the next Alan Sugar or Richard Branson.

Speaking at the event will be Daniel Sheridan, who started his own company, PlayMade Energy, which developed an electricity-generating see-saw used by children in Uganda and Malawi, while he was at university.

He will be joined by a panel of entrepreneurs who will be taking part in Ned Snogard — a reverse of Dragon’s Den.

Each entrepreneur will be given 60 seconds to pitch a new idea and convince a panel of students to vote for it. With the roles reversed, students will see how established entrepreneurs perform in a pitch.

The School to Start-up event on November 7 at the Said Business School, Oxford, is being run by Oxfordshire Business First.

Deputy chairman Stuart Miller said: “The hike in tuition fees has made going to university an expensive option and for many young people it is not necessarily the right one.

“We want to help young entrepreneurs to overcome the obstacles they may face and start successful businesses.”
