About 4,000 homes are without water after a technical failure at a pumping station.

They lost water yesterday afternoon, Thames Water said.

A spokesman said: "We are really sorry that customers in Banbury have been left without water and we are doing our best to get the problem fixed as soon as possible.

“We have been making bottled water available to anyone who has been cut off and we will continue to do this until the supplies are back on.”

The loss of water had been caused by a technical failure at pumps at the Angelinos pumping station, which supplies the town, it said.

One pump was fixed on Sunday morning and the firm said it was “working around the clock”

to fix the second pump by lunchtime today.
