2005 Domaine de Vieux Lazaret: A Rhone red that ripples with bright damson and berryish fruit plus a dash of pepper and spice seasoning. And it's got some lovely acidity balanced by ripe plush tannin, leading to a long perfect finish. Great with red meat dishes.

2005 Navajas Tinto: To me, this is Rioja at its youthful precocious best - with intense raspberry and black cherry fruit, over-layed with a flourish of vanilla and coconut. Beautifully balanced with medium weight and cushioned by fine-grained tannins this is ideal with roast lamb or lamb chops.

2005 Domaine de Mage Sauvignon Blanc: A textbook Sauvignon Blanc from the Cotes de Gascogne which is bursting with bright citrus and gooseberry fruit. It's also got bags of tingling acidity rounded off with a touch of sweetness to create a deliciously light and versatile wine. Good on its own or with fish, white meats and salads.

2005 Cusumano Grecanico: Made from Grecanico and Catarratto grapes, this unoaked, unassuming yet more-ish Sicilian white is full of subtle understated flavours - stony fruits, lemons with a punchy minerally bite and savoury-salty, Muscadet-like, tang to the finish. Great with shellfish or good old fish and chips.
