WOMEN in North Oxfordshire were all of a flutter last night as they jostled to get a glimpse of Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt.

The actor was filming scenes for his new movie World War Z at the former American airbase at Upper Heyford.

The film, a zombie thriller, is based on the 2006 post-apocalyptic horror novel by Max Brooks and Mr Pitt was filming scenes at the empty supermarket at the base.

An onlooker said: “The whole place has been transformed into a film set.

“There are pergolas with all sorts of film equipment under them and lots of people milling around.“ About 200 film crew and actors were at the base, watched by more than 50 local people.

Among those hoping to glimpse the star was 43-year-old Steve Toole, of Upper Heyford, who was dragged along by partner Debbie, 42, and daughter Antonella, 12. He said: “I have known he was going to be here for a few days so we came down to have a look.

“Debbie is a fan — what woman isn’t?”

Pitt, 47, has been living in Richmond, West London, with his wife Angelina Jolie and their six children during filming.

Other locations for the movie include Cornwall, Scotland and Pinewood Studios, in London.
