A MAN has been convicted of plotting to snatch a child off the street for sex after depraved conversations over the internet with a stranger.

Anthony Baker registered on Flirtomatic.com in an attempt to chat to women. But after the 21-year-old failed to build up a rapport with female users he struck up a conversation about child pornography with an unnamed man from Scotland.

Baker, of Chatham Road, South Oxford, was yesterday convicted by jurors at Oxford Crown Court of arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex attempt on May 10 last year.

Jurors were told Baker brought up the subject of “kiddie porn” and asked if his new online friend had ever had sex with a child.

Prosecutor Paul Harrison said Baker discussed finding a random 10-year-old child on the street.

Flirtomatic – which has 2.6 million registered users – moderates every conversation and Baker’s exchange was passed to police. Officers found pornographic images of children in Baker’s bedroom at his parents’ house.

Baker, who admitted possession of the images, was bailed pending sentencing for both offences.
