Phone services have been restored to about 100 residents in West Oxon after an attempted copper cable theft.

The would-be thieves attempted to steal underground cables from Brize Norton Road, Minster Lovell, early on Thursday morning.

BT engineers restored services to the majority of homes by Sunday afternoon.

Spokesman Emma Littlejohn said: “With this level of damage, there may customers without service, but our engineers are still working and checking each line individually.”

BT has appealed for residents to report odd behaviour at manhole or street cabinets by calling police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
